I have been watching a lot of different family guy shows online trying to figure out what I am going to write about. The one thing I noticed was that in all the shows that I have watched there has only been one person with a different ethnic background then Caucasian and his name is Cleveland Brown. Cleveland Brown is of African-American decent and he is the only one in the whole town. This show is very weak in diversity. I am sure that pretty much every town in the United States there are more African-American’s in each town. If I was of African-American decent I would wonder why there was only one African-American in the show and it would be very hard to connect to the show.
I’ve always enjoyed this show for its comedy even though there are often jokes that would not be considered politically correct, and could be offensive to people of different ethnicities. I also have never took the time too notice until now that there is only one African-American and that this could be insulting to people of this ethnic background. I also recently noticed after doing this assignment that the father pays much more attention to the son and not as much attention to the daughter, she is somewhat the outcast of the family, even though she is by far the most intelligent and has the most potential for success. When I realize this now I see how there is gender inequality here but at the same time because of the sons stupidity it makes the show more entertaining and humorous, where as if the show was based around the daughters life it would not be as funny and as entertaining to watch.
